Legendary Cornell coach Richie Moran got his start coaching the Manhasset High School Indians in 1963 at age 24. In his first three years, his teams won three Nassau County titles. The piece at the Manhasset Press web site is a recap of those years and of the reunion of players from those first three Manhasset championship teams and their Hall of Fame coach.

"Army Spc. Christopher James Coffland, 43, of Baltimore, died Friday of wounds suffered during a roadside bombing that day in Afghanistan, just weeks after he was deployed ... Coffland graduated from Gilman School in Baltimore in 1984 and Washington & Lee University in 1988, where he majored in psychology and played football and lacrosse." NCAA President Myles Brand, the first university president to serve as the Association's chief executive, has died from pancreatic cancer. He was 67. Brand, who began his tenure in January 2003 after having served as president at Indiana and Oregon, died at his Indianapolis home. More

Mount St. Mary's University Director of Athletics Lynne P. Robinson has announced the hiring of Sonia LaMonica as the women's lacrosse head coach on Tuesday. LaMonica becomes the sixth women's lacrosse head coach in program history. More
The NLL's Minnesota Swarm announced the signing of 2009 first round draft pick Zack Greer to a three-year contract. Greer, a 6-2 190 lbs. forward from Bryant University, was the third overall selection in the 2009 NLL Entry Draft. He finished his collegiate playing career as the all-time leading point (353p) and goal scorer (248g) in NCAA Division I history. More
Occidental College Director of Athletics Jaime Hoffman announced today that Michele Uhlfelder has been hired on as the first women's lacrosse head coach in the history of the college. One of two women's sports added to the department of athletics during the last two years, lacrosse will join women's golf to make 21 intercollegiate sports. More

Presbyterian College has announced that Mike Gongas has been named acting head men's lacrosse coach. Gongas took over the capacity as interim head men's lacrosse coach on Sept. 2, 2009. Since that time, he has worked with the team in all aspects, including coaching, recruiting, and financial planning with the budget. More
Albion College women's athletic director Lisa Roschek today announced the appointment of Jaclyn Rutkowski as the first head coach of the Britons' varsity women's lacrosse program. Rutkowski will begin work immediately on building a squad for the spring 2010 season and beyond. More
La Roche has announced the addition of head coach Anthony Stamatopoulos. He will be building a varsity team for the inaugural program at the college, which will begin its first season in 2010-2011. He joins La Roche from Robert Morris University, where he served as director of operations–assistant coach. More
Former Retriever standout Andy Gallagher has been named assistant men's lacrosse coach at UMBC, it was announced today by head lacrosse coach Don Zimmerman. Gallagher will begin his duties on Nov. 9, 2009. More
Marty Ward, a two-time All-America selection at Limestone, has been named assistant lacrosse coach at Florida Southern. He will be the top assistant to head coach Rory Whipple, who directed FSC's first season of competition last year. More
Rochester, NY -- The Rochester Knighthawks completed a blockbuster trade on Saturday with the Colorado Mammoth, acquiring forwards Gavin Prout, Andrew Potter, and two first-round selections in the 2010 Entry Draft. In exchange, Rochester sent the rights of Ilija Gajic and its first-round selection in the 2012 Entry Draft to Colorado. More
National lacrosse hall of famer and former all-American athlete Skip Lichtfuss has been hired as the first head coach of Hanover College's men's lacrosse program. Lichtfuss, who was inducted into the U.S. Lacrosse National Hall of Fame in 1993, has been involved at every level of lacrosse in the U.S. for nearly 40 years. More
