#14 Denison Keeps Rolling in Win over Saint Vincent
The Big Red ran their season goal total to 170 and improved their record to 9-2 following a 19-5 victory over St. Vincent College on Saturday at Deeds Field-Piper Stadium.
This marks the fourth consecutive game that the Big Red has scored at least 19 goals. Over that span they have racked up 89 goals and outscored the opposition +70. Their 89 goals is the most scored over a consecutive four-game span in the 53 seasons of lacrosse at Denison University.
Today's game was close through the first 10 minutes but beginning with Brady Burton's (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) goal in a man-down situation with 4:36 to play that would kick start a 12-0 Denison run that would stretch into the mid-point of the third quarter.
Denison was led by freshman Emmett Jones (Colorado Springs, Colo./Air Academy) who scored four goals off eight shots. Burton totaled three goals while Rick Mackessy (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) and Dan Maude (Wayne, Pa./Haverford School) both posted two goals and three assists.
Alex Baruch (Richmond, Va./St. Christopher's) made eight saves in 53 minutes of work while Connor Detjen (Winnetka, Ill./Loyola Academy) led the Big Red with six ground balls.
Denison outshot St. Vincent 48-20 and totaled 49 ground balls. DU was 2-for-5 in extra man opportunities and cleared at 94 percent.
Denison is ranked 14th in the latest Division III top-20 poll. They will host Colorado College on Friday (April 18) at 7:00 p.m.
