Mount Saint Vincent Knocks Down Green Mountain

POULTNEY, VT -- Senior Jason Reynolds (Centereach, NY) recorded his second straight seven point game and the College of Mount Saint Vincent men's lacrosse team cruised to its second straight win with a 14-3 victory at Green Mountain on Sunday afternoon. Reynolds scored two goals and added five assists on the day, while Mike Shea (Congers, NY) reached seven points by scoring three goals and assisting on four others.

The Dolphins used a balanced scoring attack on Sunday, as nine different players scored at least one goal. Mount Saint Vincent had four players score at least two led by Shea's three markers. Joining Reynolds with two goals were Ryan Brunelle (Carmel, NY) and Ryan O'Dougherty (Morristown, NJ). Russ Holland (Brooklyn, NY) also had a productive afternoon for the Mount, as he finished with a goal and two assists.

The Dolphins allowed a season low three goals in the contest, one each in the second, third and fourth quarters. The first goal game in the opening moments of the second quarter and the defense did not allow the second until the closing stages of the third.

Tom Egan (Nanuet, NY) picked up the win in goal for the Dolphins after making nine saves. Egan made three stops in the second quarter, before helping to secure the win with five saves in the fourth.

Cody Green (Waldwick, NJ) picked up eight groundballs in the tilt to lead the team, while Bill Downes (Barkhamsted, CT) and Shea picked up six and five, respectively. Derek Charlton (Yonkers, NY) chipped in with four groundballs, while three other players finished with three in the game.

Overall, Mount Saint Vincent out shot Green Mountain 36-23 and also held the advantage in groundballs at 47-43. Mount Saint Vincent went 4-8 with the extra-man and won 14 face-offs in the contest.

The win pushes Mount Saint Vincent's record to 2-7 overall on the season. The Dolphins will return to action at home on Wednesday when they host Skyline Conference rival Richard Stockton. Face-off at Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers is slated for 7:00 p.m.
