York (Pa.) Handles Notre Dame (Md.)
BALTIMORE - Visiting York (Pa.) held host Notre Dame to a season-low seven goals en route to a 21-7 victory Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference women's lacrosse game. Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Co-Player of the Week Tina Money (Shady Side, MD/Queen Anne's County) led the Gators with four points on three assists and a goal in the losing effort. York improves to 11-4 overall with the win, while Notre Dame's falls to 7-5.
York scored the first ten out of 11 goals of the game, putting the contest out of the Gators reach over the opening 22:31. Notre Dame fell behind 12-3 at the half, as York continued to dominate in the second half en route to the 21-7 victory.
Nine different Spartans scored in the victory, led by Kaitlin Davis' game-high five goals and Alison Napolitano's game-high six points on four goals and two assists.
In addition to Money's four points, sophomore Lauren Terry (Towson, MD/Catholic) totaled a team-high three goals while senior Anne Shippen (Mount Airy, MD/Glenelg Country Day) added two goals. Junior Ashleigh Johnson (Centreville, MD/Queen Anne's County) scored the Gators seventh goal in the loss.
Junior goalie Amanda Arkwright (North Kingston, RI/North Kingston) made 13 saves in the losing effort, while York's Anne Feustle made nine saves in the win.
York out shot Notre Dame by a 42-22 margin and forced 20 Gator turnovers to their 13.
The Gators will look to rebound on Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. game at PAC opponent Centenary.
