NORFOLK, Va. -- Old Dominion (4-6) suffered it's sixth straight loss and fourth this season to a nationally ranked opponent, as #10 North Carolina defeated ODU, 19-7. The Lady Monarchs were down just two goals after the first fifteen minutes, but UNC would close on a 13-3 run, getting scores from ten different players in the game. Senior Kelly Kimener led the way for ODU, scoring a season-high four goals, the fourth of which put her among the top ten in program history with 79 career goals.

Julia Ryan put the Tar Heels up within the first minute, but Kimener scored her first of the game off an assist by junior Jessica Noone to even the score. UNC would answer with three straight to go up 4-1, with three of the first four scores coming off Kristen Taylor assists.

The Lady Monarchs pushed for the first fifteen and scored three of the next five goals to cut the lead to just two, 4-6, with 14:12 remaining. Senior Kaelyn Schival scored on a free-position attempt and followed with an assist on fellow senior Sigrid Paulus' sixth goal of the season. Paulus would then follow her goal with an assist on a score by sophomore Ashley Kellogg less than a minute later.

UNC, though, would then start a 9-0 run against the Lady Monarchs, powered by leading scorer, freshman Corey Donohoe. She scored three goals in the stretch, while Taylor added her fourth assist.

Down 11 with under 15 minutes to go, Kimener scored three straight unassisted goals for the Lady Monarchs. Her fourth goal of the game gave her 79 career goals, tying her for 10th all-time in the ODU record book.

North Carolina scored four more with under five minutes to go in the second to seal the victory, 19-7.

Three Tar Heels had five or more points as Kristen Taylor poured in a seven-point effort with three goals and four assists. Julia Ryan (2 goals, 3 assists) and Donohoe (4 goals, 1 assist) were the other two for UNC who scored five points or more.

ODU put 13 of their 16 shots on-goal and scooped a season-high 26 groundballs. Junior Brittany Washko led the way with six groundballs, a career-high.

ODU hosts the final two women's lacrosse games in Foreman Field history this weekend starting with a 4:00 p.m. game against CAA foe Delaware on Friday, April 18.

UNC held the Lady Monarchs scoreless for the last 14:12 of the first half and the first 16:18 of the second while scoring nine unanswered goals during that stretch.
