#5 Lock Haven Finishes Strong to Edge Millersville
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The No. 5 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (11-3, 9-2 PSAC) edged Millersville University (6-6, 5-6) 14-12 in a tough Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) road game today.
Junior Jessica Blickenstaff (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) and Leigh Titus (Towaco, N.J./Montville) both tallied six point games to lead LHU past Millersville.
Blickenstaff and Titus each scored three goals and recorded a trio of assist.
The Lady Eagles found themselves down early and trailing at the halftime, but used a 10-goal second half to down their hosts.
Millersville scored first, netting the first goal of the game at the 24:15 mark of the opening half.
Titus scored the first of her three goals with just over 21 minutes to go in the first half to even the contest at 1-1, but Millersville responded with a three-goal run that powered them to a 7-4 halftime led.
In the second half LHU outscored the Marauders 10-5 to take the all-important conference win.
Senior midfielder Caitlyn Watts (Willow Grove, Pa./Archbishop Wood) had a solid outing for LHU scoring a team-high four goals on the afternoon.
Sophomore goalie Kira Nuttall (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) was once again strong between the pipes and led LHU to the win with an 11-save effort.
The Lady Eagles are back in action on Monday, April 21 at 4:00 p.m. when they host Shippensburg University in the Haven's final regular season home contest of the 2008 campaign.
