Second Half Surge by #5 Lock Haven Sinks Ship

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The No. 5 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (12-3, 10-2 PSAC) used a strong second half to dismantle Shippensburg University (4-11, 4-8 PSAC) 20-5 at home today on Charlotte Smith Field as the Lady Eagles celebrated Senior Day.

LHU was only up one goal at halftime leading 6-5, but dominated the Lady Raiders in the second, shuting them out, 14-0.

With the win the Haven improved to 12-3 overall and 10-2 in the Pennyslvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).

Prior to the start of the game the Lady Eagles took time to honor their four seniors including Jessica Blickenstaff (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin), Christina Fried (Pine Brook, N.J./Montville), Caitlyn Watts (Willow Grove, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and Racheal Williams (Gettysburg, Pa./Catctin (Md.) for the contributions they've made over the past years.

Blickenstaff took full advantage of her last game on the home turf and turned in a sensational offensive performance. She recorded a game-high 12 points, scoring five goals and assisting seven others. Blickenstaff's five goals put her just two away from becoming the all-time LHU career goal record holder.

Fellow seniors Fried and Williams both scored goals too, as each contributed one goal for the Haven. Watts also wouldn't be out done herself on Senior Day and set up two LHU tallies with assists, while playing a dominating game in the midfield.

Junior Amber Hoch (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) scored a team-high six goals to lead the Haven onslaught.

Eight different Lady Eagles scored goals today including sophomore Leigh Titus (Towaco, N.J./Montville), who netted four to go along with one helper.

Junior Lynette Reitz (Williamsport, Pa./Montoursville), who is in her first ever season of lacrosse after making the transition from the soccer field scored her first career goal on a free position attempt.

LHU's defensive effort was strong, particularly in the second half, where they completely shutdown any Shippensburg attempt for an attack.

Sophomore goalie Kira Nuttall (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) was once again superb between the pipes making 10 saves in the win.

LHU is back in action on Thursday, April 24 at 4:00 p.m. when they travel to take on local rival Bloomsburg University.
