PLYMOUTH, N.H. -- Junior Caitlin Albert (Scarborough, Maine) and sophomore Jessica Knight (Alfred, Maine/Massabesic) scored four goals apiece and freshman Mary Vaughan (Brunswick, Maine/Pomfret School) added three goals Tuesday afternoon to lead the University of Southern Maine to a 15-7 victory over Plymouth State University in a Little East Conference women's lacrosse game at Arold Field.

Southern Maine moved into second place in the LEC with a 4-1 conference record, 6-7 overall, while PSU dropped to 1-9 and 1-5.

Plymouth State got on the board first, but the Huskies score five unanswered goals to take a 5-1 lead midway through the first half. USM pulled away the remainder of the first half and went into the break with an 11-4 margin, and remained in control of the contest with three consecutive goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half.

Sophomore Kalie Judd (Peabody, Mass.) topped the PSU stat sheet with three goals, five ground balls, and five draw controls. Sophomore Kerry D'Ambroise (Lowell, Mass.) also scored three times for the Panthers, and freshman Michaela Rice (Weirs Beach, N.H.) added one. Junior Amanda Kreamer (Lynn, Mass.) anchored the defense, collecting seven ground balls.

Seniors Justene Dorr (Gorham, Maine/Kimball Union) and Shannon Kynoch (South Burlington, Vt.), sophomore Erica Robertson (St. Albans, Vt./Bellows Free Academy) and junior Melissa Rivet (Bridgton, Maine/Lake Region) each added a goal to the USM offense. Freshmen Kelsey Inzer (Randolph, Vt./Randolph Union) had a solid game with four ground balls, three draw controls, and three caused turnovers.

USM senior goalie Katie Quartuccio (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Millbrook School) had 11 saves. Senior Sarah Beebe (Rumson, N.J.) was busy in the PSU cage stopping 18 shots. USM held a 43-29 advantage in shots.

PSU plays its final home game Thursday against Colby-Sawyer College (4:00 p.m.). USM visits the University of New England Thursday for a non-conference encounter (4:00 p.m.).
