Bryant Storms Past Saint Anselm

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Senior Caitlin Hansen (Spring Lake, NJ) scored six goals while juniors Allison Faiola (Billerica, MA) had four and Delia Glover (Marston Mills, MA) added three as the Bryant University women's lacrosse team cruised to a 20-5 win over Saint Anselm College Tuesday night at the Bryant Turf Complex. The Bulldogs will wrap up the regular season Saturday with a non-conference game at Adelphi before hosting a Northeast-10 Conference quarterfinal round game next Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.

Bryant (9-6, 7-3 NE-10) led 3-0 at the start but three quick goals by the Hawks tied the game up 3-3 midway through the first half thanks to a free position goal by STA's Michaela Rocha. But on the ensuing draw, Glover scooped up the ground ball and raced in alone for an uncontested goal just 10 seconds later to put Bryant back in front 4-3.

Saint Anselm (5-10, 4-6) would not go away, drawing a 5-5 tie once again on goals by Courtney Ford and Meghan Ayers, but Lauren Albert (South Windsor, CT) would net the eventual game-winner and the Bulldogs would cruise from there.

Leading 9-5 at the break, the Bulldogs would out-score Saint Anselm 11-0 in the second half. Jessica Bolton (Belgrade Lakes, Maine) would make 14 saves in net for Bryant.

The six goals on the night moves Hansen into second all-time in school history with 152 and moves her into second place in school history with 184 career points. Former standout Shaun Leddy holds the school record for goals with 171 and points with 249.
