No. 3 Adelphi Too Much for the Golden Lions

Brookhaven, NY -- Rachel Ray cooked up a game high of 5 points (2G, 3A) as #3 Adelphi defeated Dowling 16-3 at Golden Lions Field. The win improves the Panthers' record to a flawless 12-0, 4-0 in ECC play, while Dowling drops to 7-5, 2-3 in conference play.

Adelphi's defense led by goaltender Caitlin Fitzpatrick, who stopped 11 shots, was dominant and held Dowling to three goals on the afternoon. The Panthers kept Dowling off the board for the first 26 minutes before Kelly Cefalu (East Islip, NY) deposited a feed from Samantha Messineo (Shirley, NY) for Dowlings first goal. At halftime, the Golden Lions trailed 9-1.

In addition to Ray, Kaitlyn Carter had 5 points (3G, 2A), and Vanessa Sotcheff (1G, 2A) and Michelle Ceraso (2G, 1A) and three points each to lead Adelphi.

Brianna Falesse (Centereach, NY) and Vanessa Moriera (Selden, NY) had the additional tallies for the Golden Lions. Moreira also had a game high 6 ground balls.

Dowling travels to Chestnut Hill Saturday in non-conference competition, game time scheduled for 3:00.
