Foxborough, Mass. - Second-ranked New York Institute of Technology defeated No. 1 Le Moyne this afternoon to capture the Men's Division II national championship. NYIT fell behind 5-2 after the first quarter and still trailed 7-5 with 10 minutes remaining in the first half. After the Bears cut the margin to one at the 9:43 mark, they reeled off three more goals in the last 2:13 -- the second and third with 15 and 7 seconds to go -- to forge a 9-7 lead at the break.

The teams traded three goals apiece in the third quarter, and the Dolphins scored about a minute into the final frame to make it a one-goal game at 12-11. Austin Carino and Ryan Amengual netted goals to push NYIT to a comfortable lead, and the Bears finished on a four-goal run with a 16-11 win and the Division II crown, their fourth overall, the previous one coming in 2005.
