Notre Dame de Namur Signs Four Californians for 2009
May 28 – The Notre Dame de Namur lacrosse program and Head Coach Joe Kerwin have announced the signings of four California recruits for next season. These four will join a class that already includes five from the state of Washington.
The Argos class includes attackman Bubba Paguirigan as well as three experienced midfielders with the additions of David Siliezar, Brandon Ballow and Kyle Hirozawa.
Paguirigan, an attackman from Palo Alto played for the West Valley Red Hawks Lacrosse Club for two seasons. At West Valley, he helped lead the team to consecutive NCJLA State Championships. In 2006, Paguirigan led the NCJLA in total points and assists after finishing with 17 goals and 47 helpers. He followed that up with 17 goals and 32 assists in 2007 to finish sixth in the league in scoring.
Siliezar, a midfielder from Downey HS is the school's all-time points leader with 112 total points. For his career, Siliezar racked up 74 goals and 38 assists, including 27 goals and 15 assists as a senior. In 2008, he was named 1st Team All-League as well as the Team MVP.
Ballow, a midfielder from Chula Vista will join the Argonauts after an excellent senior season at Eastlake HS. Ballow was named Team MVP after recording 20 goals, 29 assists and picking up 56 groundballs. He will also help the Argos on face-offs where he won 61% of the time last season.
Hirozawa, a midfielder from San Jose also comes from the West Valley Lacrosse Club where he spent three seasons. As a captain in 2008, he helped lead the Red Hawks to their third consecutive NCJLA State Championship. Hirozawa finished the year with 11 goals and three assists. The Argos finished the 2008 season with an 11-2 overall record, including a 7-1 record against NCAA Division II opponents.
