Ohio State's Joe Breschi Headed to North Carolina

Ohio State's Joe Breschi has apparently resigned to take the head coaching position at the University of North Carolina. Breschi graduated in 1990 from UNC, where he was an All-ACC selection in 1989 and 1990 and was selected for North-South All-Star game and named a first-team All-American in 1990. He was also a member of the U.S. National Team in both 1994 and 1998.

John Haus recently stepped down as the Tar Heels' head coach after compiling an 58-52 record over eight seasons in Chapel Hill.

Breschi came to Ohio State from Brown, where he had served as the head assistant coach and defensive coordinator for five seasons. Before going to Brown, he was an assistant coach at North Carolina for two years, a period when the Tar Heels captured two ACC titles and a national championship.

In 11 seasons at Ohio State, Breschi's Buckeyes fashioned a 92-63 overall record. This past spring, the team made the NCAA tournament, where they ran past Cornell in the opening round before falling to Duke in the quarterfinals, and finished with an 11-6 record.
