McKeown, Williams Added to Binghamton Lacrosse Staff
VESTAL, N.Y.--The Binghamton men's lacrosse program has announced the hiring of two former players to its coaching staff in preparation for the 2009 season. Former All-America goalie Kevin McKeown has been named the first assistant while 2007 graduate Rob Williams will serve as the second assistant.
"I consider myself very fortunate to have Kevin McKeown and Rob Williams, new members of our men's lacrosse coaching staff, at my side representing Binghamton University, our Men's Lacrosse program, and the America East Conference," head coach Ed Stephenson said. ""Our student athletes could not have better leadership than that of Kevin and Rob."
McKeown comes from Elmira College, where he was an assistant coach the past two seasons. A 2006 graduate of Binghamton, he was part of Binghamton's first-ever recruiting class and was a three-year captain. From 2004-06, McKeown was a three-time all-conference selection and was named the America East Player of the Year in 2004. In addition, he was a 2004 USILA All-American as well as a 2006 USILA Academic All-American. Furthermore, he was named the America East Scholar-Athlete for Men's Lacrosse in 2006. While at Elmira College, McKeown completed his master's degree in education.
Williams was one of the Bearcats' top scorers during his career and along with McKeown, played a significant role in Binghamton's 2004 America East regular season championship. He was also named to the America East Academic Honor Roll. In his senior year, Williams was a team captain and was named to the America East All-Tournament Team.
