Schatz to Serve as Heron Lacrosse Assistant Coach

GENEVA, N.Y. - William Smith College Director of Athletics Deb Steward recently announced that Mimi Schatz will join the Heron coaching staff as an assistant lacrosse coach.

"We are delighted to have someone of Mimi's character and playing experience join the staff," said Head Lacrosse Coach Pat Genovese. "She will bring energy and vitality to the team, and her experiences playing for a top high school program, and collegiately for a nationally respected team, have given her a keen knowledge of the game."

Schatz's experience as a coach and player will be a huge asset to the William Smith lacrosse team. A 2008 graduate of Middlebury, she earned a bachelor's degree in international relations with a European focus. Schatz was a four-year member of the Panthers' lacrosse team and led the team to three straight NESCAC championships and NCAA tournament semifinal appearances from 2005 to 2007. She was a first-team All-American in 2008, after leading her team in points.

Schatz's coaching experience includes stints at the Bryn Mawr School, Elite 180, and East West lacrosse camps, as well as four years of coaching at the Middlebury Lacrosse Clinic and Women's Sports Day.

Schatz has studied in Paris, and participated in a national outdoor leadership school in Broome, Australia, in 2005. The leadership training focused on the development of judgment, personal responsibility, and awareness of group needs.
