Devitte Named Head Lacrosse Coach at Daniel Webster

Nashua, N.H. -- The Daniel Webster College Department of Athletics today announced that Kyle Devitte has been named head coach of its men's lacrosse program. The announcement was made by Phil Rowe, assistant vice president of Student Affairs.

"This is an important day for the Eagles program," said Rowe. "Kyle brings exceptional coaching and recruiting skills to the table. He is a proven teacher of the game who has an outstanding reputation in the lacrosse world. His passion and excitement will be a phenomenal asset for our student-athletes and our program as a whole."

"It's an honor to be presented with the opportunity to serve the Daniel Webster men's program," said Devitte. "I look forward to the opportunity to continue to build on it's tradition with discipline and hard work. I am equally excited to return to my native New Hampshire. I expect us to do more than win a few games and go about our business. I look forward to working to change the culture of the program. It's my hope on the field that we surprise a lot of people this season and in the future."

A native of Henniker, N.H., Devitte comes to Daniel Webster College after serving the last two seasons as assistant coach and defensive coordinator at Emerson College, one of the Eagles rivals in the North Atlantic Conference. He has also previously served assistant coaching roles at Saint Anselm College (2005-06), Franklin Pierce College (2005-2005, and Plymouth State University (2003-2004).

Beyond the college game, Devitte has also served in coaching roles with the Massachusetts Under-17 Lacrosse program, and clinics including the Full Tilt Lacrosse Clinic in Cambridge, Mass., Camp Winadu in Pittsfield, Mass., and Lynx Lacrosse of Merrimack, N.H.

Off the field, Devitte is an accomplished lacrosse writer. He is the owner and editor-in-chief of the highly regarded website, is a recognized and widely read contributing staff writer and columnist for and serves as a columnist for the Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse.

A 2003 graduate of Clark University with a degree in English Literature, Devitte played three seasons with the Cougars, finishing as the team's leading scorer in both his junior and senior years. He finished among the program's top-ten all time for groundballs. He also played one season at Saint Michael's College.

Devitte inherits a program that posted a 3-8 overall mark last season. The program went 7-6 in 2006, qualifying for the ECAC New England Championship tournament.
