Loudonville, N.Y. - Siena men's lacrosse announced its 2009 schedule this morning. The challenging 15-game slate includes the first ever meeting against Johns Hopkins, a 9-time NCAA champion, and games against four preseason top-25 teams.

"I am very excited with the challenges of what this year's schedule will provide our program," said head coach Brian Brecht. "Our non-league schedule provides us an opportunity to face four of the top ranked teams in the nation as well as an always competitive league schedule that has seen five different teams earn the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament over the past seven years."

The Saints begin 2009 with an exhibition at Harvard on February 13. The regular-season starts February 20 at perennial power Johns Hopkins and will be televised on ESPNU. Siena's first home game will be against cross-town rival UAlbany (February 25) before playing Presbyterian (March 1) at Port Jefferson Station, N.Y., a neutral site.

The Saints come home for a 4-game home stand against Loyola (March 3), Stony Brook (March 7), Saint Joseph's (March 14), and St. John's (March 17). They then travel to West Islip, N.Y. for a neutral site game against Hartford (March 21).

Siena opens MAAC play at Manhattan (March 28). The Saints host Wagner (April 4) and then travel to Virginia Military Academy (April 11). They return home for their final two home games of the season against 2008 MAAC Champion Canisius (April 15) and Mount Saint Mary's (April 18). The Saints finish the regular-season at Marist (April 22) and Providence (April 25).

The 2009 MAAC Championships will be held in Buffalo and hosted by Canisius May 1-3.
