Oregon Lacrosse Hosts Stanford in 2009 Opener

EUGENE, Ore. – The University of Oregon women's lacrosse team opens its 2009 season at home on Saturday with a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) game against 18th-ranked Stanford. The opening draw at Pape' field is set for 3:00 p.m. PT.

The Ducks are coming off a fourth-place MPSF finish, with a program-best 13-7 mark in 2008. Oregon returns five starters from that squad and 15 letterwinners overall, while the four-time defending league champion Cardinal has six returning starters and 21 players who saw action in '08.

SERIES HISTORY

Stanford leads the all-time series, 4-1, but the two sides have split a pair of meetings at Pape' field. UO won the last meeting in Eugene, 10-6, in 2007. Saturday's game marks the fifth straight season the Ducks have opened against the Cardinal. Last year, UO dropped a tight 8-7 affair in Stanford.

BI-MART FAMILY DAY

Bi-Mart card members will be able to enjoy a fun day at Pape' Field with their families. A family discount rate of $10 will be offered for two adults and an unlimited number of children.

BASKETBALL FANS ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND

Men's basketball fans can attend Saturday's game for free using their Arizona-game ticket stubs from earlier in the day. The UO men's hoops team hosts the Wildcats at 12:30 p.m. at McArthur Court.
