Old Westbury, N.Y. (Feb. 2, 2009) – NYIT head men's lacrosse coach Jack Kaley has announced that Justin Arini and Karl Hedstrom have been named assistant coaches.

Arini, who will serve as offensive coach and recruiting coordinator, brings Division I coaching experience to a veteran NYIT offense. Prior to arriving at NYIT, Arini was the offensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator at Manhattan College in Riverdale, N.Y.

Hedstrom, who will serve as goalie coach, face-off coach ,and assist with the defense, was a member of Hofstra's lacrosse team from 1993 to 1997. He comes to the Bears after serving as assistant varsity coach at Garden City High School in 2008.

"I am extremely excited about the additions of Justin and Karl. Justin is extremely knowledgeable in the recruiting process, not only in Long Island but nationally as well," said Kaley. "He is extremely dedicated, and his passion for the game will be invaluable for our program. Karl brings a great deal of experience both at the collegiate and high school level, and he has an excellent reputation dealing with goalkeepers and defenses."

The Bears kick off the 2009 season on Sunday, Feb. 22 as they travel to Richmond, Va. to take on Wingate University at 1:00 p.m..
