No. 6 Davenport Defeats No. 11 SCAD

ATHENS, Tenn. - Shawn Beer led a balanced offense today as the #6 ranked Panthers took down the #11 team in the country with a 13-9 win over Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD). The win will lift DU into another ranked opponent on Saturday when they take on #14 Stonehill.

Even though the play was a little sloppy throughout by both teams, Davenport was able to start the season off on a good note as they took on their first of three ranked opponents in the opening weekend.

Sophomore Shawn Beer, who led the team in scoring a year ago, started his season off strong as he notched five goals in the victory. Newcomer Jordan Richtsmeier and sophomore Gavin Morris each posted two goals and Jeff Samuels and Jordy Sayers chipped in with one apiece.

Davenport was able to control the face-off as they won 14/26 and Justin Scott was solid in goal as he came up with 14 saves on 25 shots faced.

Davenport will take on #15 Stonehill College on Saturday at 10:00 AM.
