No. 9 Roanoke Storms Past Birmingham-Southern

SALEM, Va. -- Jeff Keating and Joseph Coretti netted career-highs of four goals each in a 27-3 win over Birmingham-Southern at Kerr Stadium Friday evening. The win improved Roanoke's record to 3-0 on the season, while the Panthers dropped to 0-1 in their first lacrosse game in school-history.

Roanoke scored the first 10 goals of the game to cruise to its third win of the season. Coretti scored all four goals in a span of three minutes in the third quarter to increase the lead to 22-1.

Roanoke dominated BSU, 70-22 in shots, 46-8 shots on goal and a 72-30 advantage in groundballs. The Maroons were successful on 18-of-19 clear attempts and won 23-of-33 face-offs.

Keating scored four goals to tie his career-high as he scored four last game against Greensboro. In addition to Coretti's four goals, Pat March had five points with two goals and three assists. Jay Troja scored three goals and added an assist in the win.

Jacob McPherson, Christopher Buechele and Dylan Krupa all had a goal for the BSU with Ryan Croft credited with an assist.

Nick Peck led Roanoke with four saves with Jake Dorsey picking up his 21st career win with one save on the evening. Cameron Overton finished with 19 saves in goal for the Panthers.

The men will travel to Lancaster, PA on Sunday, March 1 to take on Franklin & Marshall in non-conference action. The Maroons are 0-1 against the Diplomats, falling 10-9 in 1988. Game time is set for noon.
