Argos Score 14 Unanswered, Down Dominican

February 28 – The Notre Dame de Namur lacrosse team improved to 3-0 with 14 unanswered goals on their way to a 16-3 victory. The Argos outscored the Penguins 10-0 in the second and third quarters and held big advantages in shots, groundballs and face-offs.

Drew Comeau opened the scoring up for NDNU with a goal less than three minutes into the first quarter. Dominican quickly responded with a tally 40 second late but the flood gates opened up from there. The Argos would add two more in the first before scoring seven in the second. Comeau and Greg Bearson each recorded a pair of scores in the second.

The third was much of the same as Comeau added two more and Bearson tacked on another. The Penguins would score twice in the fourth but NDNU was able to extend their lead again with three goals.

The Argos held a 34-12 shot advantage and also picked up 45 groundballs to only 19 from the visitors. NDNU also won 16 of 21 face-offs with Josh Ferreiro winning 9 of 11 and Conrad Clevlen going 7 of 9.

Comeau led NDNU with seven points, tallying six goals and an assist. Bearson scored four while Clevlen and Shields added two apiece. Nick Campo and Rory Galvin chipped in a goal and an assist each.

Lawrence Nardi scored two goals and assisted on another to Reed Upton lead the Penguins with three points.

The Argos are back in action next Saturday when they take on St. Andrews at Koret Field.
