Roanoke Falls to Elizabethtown in Teams' First Meeting

ST. CROIX, Virgin Islands -- Roanoke dropped a 17-10 decision to Elizabethtown in women's lacrosse action on Tuesday afternoon. The Maroons dropped to 2-1 on the season, while the Blue Jays improved to 2-0 on the season.

Elizabethtown, who won the first-ever meeting between the two teams, led at the half, 11-5 and didn't trail after that winning their second game of the season. EC defeated York (Pa.), 18-3 in its season-opener.

Roanoke was led by Gina Valles, who had three goals and two assists in the win. Sunni Ray and Ella Wade chipped in two goals apiece. Katyln Scarlett finished with 16 saves on the day.

Katie Foley scored five goals while Kelsea Kozak added two goals and four assists in the win. Stephanie Kreis netted four goals in the second win of the season for the Blue Jays.

The women will take on Mary Washington in the final game of their stay in the Virgin Islands Friday at 10:00 a.m. The Maroons are 10-12 all-time against the Eagles and have lost the last seven meetings. The Maroons last win over the UMW came during the 1999 season as they won, 13-12.
