Susquehanna Starts with Dominating Win at Methodist

FAYATTEVILLE, N.C. - Susquehanna University's sophomore midfielder Sarah Wright (Princeton, N.J./Princeton HS) exploded for a game-high five goals and two assists to help lead the visiting Crusaders to a dominating 152 win over Methodist University in a non-conference women's lacrosse game at Monarch Stadium on March 3. The game was the 2009 season opener for Susquehanna.

SU (10 overall) scored the game's first eight goals and held a 356 advantage in shots. Methodist (02 overall) recorded just three shots on goal.

Wright also scooped up four ground balls and caused three turnovers for the Crusaders. Freshman midfielder Erin Dyer (West Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) and sophomore midfielder Sara Franckowiak (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) both scored two goals. Dyer added four ground balls. Sophomore midfielders D.J. Jacobs (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) and Kirsten Detwiler (Montchanin, Del./Wilmington Friends) both came off the bench to tally a goal and an assist.

SU's freshman midfielders Caroline Sisson (Baltimore, Md./Owings Mills), Ally Bauer (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) and Marra Landino (Brownsville, Vt./Kimball Union Academy) scored a goal each. Senior midfielder Katelyn Deese (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) and sophomore midfielders Corinne Woodward (Shrewsbury, N.J./Red Bank Regional) and Kayla MacMillan [Bath, Maine/Hyde (Conn.)] all tallied one assist. Deese also caused three turnovers and collected a game-high seven ground balls.

Senior midfielder Cindy Wilson (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) contributed six ground balls.

Senior Meredith Tompeck (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) and freshman Pamela Keilig (Hopkinton, N.H./Hopkinton) split time in goal. Tompeck earned the win despite not making a save in 40 minutes, 11 seconds of play. Keilig made one save in the remaining 19:49.
