Falcons Fly over Warriors

Charlotte, NC The Pfeiffer women's lacrosse team took down non-conference foe East Stroudsburg University 13-5 on Tuesday afternoon. The Pfeiffer women improve to 3-1 overall, while remaining 2-0 in Conference Carolinas action. East Stroudsburg took the loss in their first game of the season to begin 0-1 overall.

Molly O'Hara (Glen Mills, PA) got the visiting Warriors on the board first with an unassisted goal in the first three minutes. However, Pfeiffer did not let ESU dictate the pace of the game and jumped on the board with five goals in the first half. Sarah Hebberd (Golden, CO) and Krissy Bentolila (Potomac, MD) put a pair apiece past Warrior goalkeeper Kristin Mayberrry (Pottstown, PA) before half time. Michelle Mangiaruga (North Wales, PA) tallied another goal for ESU, the first of her three on the day.

Pfeiffer opened the second half with three goals in the first two minutes, one of which was a free position shot by Bentolila. Kelly McConnell (Woodbridge, VA) tallied another two minutes later before Mangiaruga responded with her second goal. Pfeiffer added four to the score with goals from McConnell, Natalie Marvin (S. Berwick, ME), and Liz Melesh (Annapolis, MD). The Falcons outscored the Warriors 8-3 in the second half.

Leading the Falcon offense was Bentolila with three goals and four assists to make seven points on the day. McConnell tallied three points with two goals and one assist. Hebberd and Melesh contributed two goals each.

Caitlin Ryan (Perth, Australia) played 45 minutes was credited with the win and made three saves. Lindsey Rearigh (Monument, CO) subbed in for the last 15 minutes of the game and made four saves.

The Falcons return to the field on Thursday when they travel to Queens University of Charlotte for a 6:00 PM game.
