Hood Sets School Record in Victory Over Chargers

FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College women's lacrosse team (2-1) scored a school-record 21 goals in a decisive 21-0 nonconference victory over Lancaster Bible College (0-2) Thursday at Thomas Athletic Field.

The Blazers, who outshot the Chargers 52-9, scored early and often, amassing the highest single-game scoring total in program history. The scoring barrage eclipsed the previous record of 20 goals set in three previous games against Wilson College, Hollins University and Trinity University.

Sophomore Kelsey Blackwell scored a team-high five goals and added two assists for seven points while senior Britney Colandreo netted four goals, three on free-position shots, and dished three assists for seven points as well. Katie Vu, Jen Graham, Brandy Noel, Lauren Perzan and Sarah Balukoff all netted a pair of goals while Helene Butler and Kim Blocker registered the first goals of their Blazer careers.

Hood won 16 of the 23 draws and was successful on 12 of its 13 clearing attempts. Sam Liptrap made five saves and posted the shutout, the first of her Hood career. Lancaster Bible's Kayla Maynard made 27 saves in the losing cause.

Hood returns to action Saturday when it travels to Washington & Jefferson College for a 2:00 p.m. nonconference matchup.
