Balanced Tigers Collar Bulldogs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Kristin Rider scored five goals and added a pair of assists to lead the Colorado College women's lacrosse team to a 22-14 victory over the University of Redlands on a cold and damp Friday night in Southern California.

The Tigers received goals from 10 different players, including three apiece from freshmen Bailey Terhune and Grace Maloney. Maggie Defanti and Gioia Garden scored a pair of goals and assisted on another score.

Colorado College jumped out to a 3-0 lead and extended its advantage to 8-3 after Rider struck for the first time with 11:31 remaining in the first half. The Tigers led 11-6 after 30 minutes and stretched their lead to six points when Ginny Rider found the net 2:05 into the second half.

Redlands scored three consecutive goals to cut its deficit in half and stayed within three goals until Kristin Rider ignited an 8-1 run on a free-position goal with 18:11 remaining in the game.

Ashley Finke paced the Bulldogs with seven goals, while Christy Smith added four scores and a pair of assists. The rest of the team accounted for just three goals and an assist.

Jess Van Doren made six saves while going the distance between the pipes for CC. Katrina Hostak stopped seven shots for the Redlands.

The Tigers improved to 2-0, while the Bulldogs dropped to 2-1.

Colorado College will be back in action on Saturday morning when it travels to Whittier College for an 11:00 a.m. match.
