Oregon Tops Boise, Wins Third Straight PNCLL Game

The University of Oregon won its third straight PNCLL league game Saturday, March 7 against the Boise State Broncos. Mother Nature provided a cold, rainy backdrop for the Ducks' first home game of the 2009 season and the approximately 450 fans in attendance.

The Broncos came out strong in the first quarter and buried two man-up goals after some sloppy play out of the gate by the Ducks. The U of O couldn't seem to find their shot in the opening quarter, putting in only three goals.

The following quarter, the Ducks found their rhythm on offense, possessing for the majority of the quarter after defensive leaders Cole Magnuson and Mike Gerrard dominated their side of the ball. After coming out strong to end the half, Oregon led 9-2. Boise State played a tough, physical game but the Ducks experience and stick skills won out in the end. The rest of the contest was all Ducks and they finished out the game 17-3.

Next week the Ducks host first year PNCLL team Portland State University at noon Saturday, March 14th.
