NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware committed a season-high 29 turnovers and All-American Curtis Dickson was held without a goal for the first time in three seasons as No. 11 Georgetown took control in the second half and handed the Blue Hens a 12-6 loss in men's lacrosse action Wednesday night at Rullo Stadium.

Georgetown (2-2), which snapped a two-game losing streak, got two goals each from Craig Dowd, Scott Kocis, and Todd Cochran and downed the Blue Hens for the eighth straight time without a loss. Dowd also dished out two assists while Ryan Shuler and Dan D'Agnes each pitched in with a goal and two assists.

Delaware (2-4), which was held to a season-low six goals, was outshot 51-30, and lost the faceoff battle for just the second time this season, lost its second straight. Carter Bloor led the Hens with two goals but not other UD player managed more than one on a blustery night.

Dickson, the Hens leading scorer and Tewaaraton Player of the Year candidate, dished out an assist with 7:04 left to play to extend his point-scoring streak to 32 straight games but had his school-record and NCAA Division I-leading goal-scoring streak snapped at 30 games. Dickson was held without a goal for the first time since being shutout by Drexel on Apr. 7, 2007.

Blue Hen goalkeeper Noah Fossner was outstanding in goal as he turned back a career-high 17 shots but Tommy Lee, the nation's leader in faceoff winning percentage at 68.1 percent, won just 7 of 19 draws. Georgetown's Dan Vinson went 11 for 19 or the Hoyas, who also got nine saves from goalkeeper Jack Davis.

Georgetown, which opened the season with a 10-7 win over Maryland but followed with close losses to St. John's and Syracuse, opened the game with two goals in the first 2:40 of action before Delaware stormed back to take the lead as Beau Davis and Kevin Kaminski closed out the first quarter with goals and Steverson put the Hens up 3-2 just 25 seconds into the second stanza.

But the Hoyas stormed right back themselves with a flurry of four straight goals to take a 6-4 lead into halftime. A goal by Cochran knotted the score at 3-3 with 13:35 left and Dowd had a hand in two of the next three goals, feeding D'Agnes on a score that would put the Hoyas up for good at 4-3 at the 11:41 mark and netting an unassisted goal with just 19 seconds left in the half. A goal by Delaware's Lee right off the face off with five seconds left cut the gap to two goals at the break.

Taylor scored his only goal of the game just 64 seconds into the second half to put Georgetown up 7-4 but Bloor answered with his first goal just 51 seconds later to cut the gap two goals once again. But the Hoyas sped away from there as Kocis stole the ball from Fossner and scored on an open net with 7:06 remaining in the third quarter and then scored again five minutes into the final stanza for a 9-5 lead. Delaware never got closer than four goals the rest of the night.

The Hens will continue action Mar. 14 when they travel to Stony Brook (N.Y.). Next up for Georgetown is a road game at Hobart Mar. 14.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Georgetown scored four goals in the second quarter and added four more in the fourth and junior Craig Dowd (East Northport, N.Y./Northport) led the way with two goals and two assists en route to a 12-6 win over Delaware on Wednesday night in Newark, Del.

It was the second road win of the season for the Hoyas, ranked No. 11 in the country by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association and No. 12 in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse poll, who improved to 2-2 with the win. The Fighting Blue Hens fall to 2-4 overall.
