Kelleher and Lichtfuss Lead Vermont Past Bellarmine

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Senior Andrew Kelleher (Delmar, N.Y.) and sophomore Derek Lichtfuss (Lutherville, Md.) combined for nine goals and 12 points to lead Vermont to a convincing 11-4 win over Bellarmine at Frazier Stadium on Thursday afternoon. The Catamounts improved to 3-1 with the win while the Knights dropped to 4-2 with the loss.

Lichtfuss scored the first three goals of the game, all in the first quarter, and finished with four goals and five points. Kelleher scored three man-up goals and finished with five goals and two assists.

Kelleher has a team leading 15 goals and 19 points in the first four games of the season. He had a total of 15 goals and 17 points in 16 games last year.

Sophomores Parker Bunnell (San Diego, Calif.) and Liam Thomas (Spring Lake Heights, N.J.) also added goals in the victory. Senior Justin Lubas (Freehold, N.J.) made a season high 19 saves.

Junior Jarrett Davis had three goals in the loss for Bellarmine.

Vermont led 5-1 at halftime and Kelleher and Bunnell both scored early in the third quarter to give the Catamounts a 7-1 advantage.

Bellarmine pulled within 8-4 on a goal by Davis with 10:59 left in the fourth quarter but would get no closer as Vermont scored the final three goals of the game.

Vermont returns to action on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. against Penn State at Moulton Winder Field. Live video of the game will be available on a pay-per-view basis via B2 Networks at UVMathletics.com.

NOTES: Vermont is 2-0 all-time against Bellarmine ... The Catamounts went 4-for-6 on the man advantage ... UVM has nine man-up goals this season ... Justin Lubas had a team high four ground balls.
