Preston Propels Tigers Past Pomona-Pitzer

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Colorado College women's lacrosse team took out its frustrations over Friday's loss to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps by defeating Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, 16-4, on Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers got goals from 11 different players, including a career-high three by sophomore midfielder Claire Preston. Gioia Garden, Ginny Rider and Ali Zarlengo each scored twice.

Senior defender Natalie Abel had career highs with three assists and four points. Sophomore defender Katharine Allen registered the first points of career with a goal and two assists, while Claire Draudt also set up a pair of scores.

Jess Van Doren had six saves on nine shots in the first half, while Valerie Cranmer stopped three of four Sagehen shots during the final 30 minutes.

Preston led the defensive effort with three caused turnovers and three ground balls, while Draudt had a team-high three draw controls.

The Tigers will wrap up their spring-break trip on Monday night when they square off with Connecticut College at 7:00 p.m.
