No. 1 Salisbury Flies by Colorado College in Florida

COCOA BEACH, Fla. - Top-ranked Salisbury University defeated Colorado College 15-2 on Tuesday afternoon at Kelly Park West in Merritt Island, Fla. The Sea Gulls (8-0) are in Florida for Spring Break and will return home Wednesday. The victory gives SU 53 consecutive wins since the start of the 2007 season. Salisbury has also won 85 straight regular-season games since 2003.

Salisbury junior attackman Mike Winter led all-scorers with five goals as the Sea Gulls outscored Colorado College 3-1 in the first quarter and took a 7-1 lead into halftime. Junior midfielder Mike Von Kamecke, who hails from Winter Park, Fla., scored three goals while senior midfielder Kylor Berkman and junior attackman Jake DeLillo scored two goals and one assist in the victory.

SU also received goals from junior midfielder Kevin Finn and freshmen midfielders Sam Bradman and Craig Burnett. Sophomore goalie Johnny Rodriguez earned the win for the Sea Gulls and also recorded the first assist of his SU career. The Sea Gulls also received one assist apiece from senior Patrick Bonanno, sophomore Shawn Zordani and freshmen Kyle Quist and Logan Keyser.

The Tigers (2-4) scored their second and final goal of the game in the third quarter. Colorado College received goals from sophomore attackmen Hunter Sprole and Kyle Wildnauer-Haigney.

Salisbury will next face Eastern Connecticut State University on Saturday, March 21, at 7:00 p.m. under the lights at Sea Gull Stadium. ECSU is coached by former SU assistant coach Justin Axel.

COCOA BEACH, Fla. – The Colorado College men's lacrosse team held top-ranked Salisbury University to its season-low total for goals, but the Tigers were unable to generate much in the offensive zone and dropped a 15-2 decision to the Sea Gulls on Tuesday afternoon at Kelly Park West in Merritt Island, Fla.

Hunter Sprole put CC on the board in the first quarter and the Tigers trailed just 3-1 after the first 15 minutes. Salisbury scored four unanswered goals in the second stanza to build a 7-1 halftime lead.

Kyle Wildnauer-Haigney scored his first goal of the season in the third quarter, but that was the last time Colorado College would get the ball past goaltender Johnny Rodriguez.

Junior attacker Mike Winters led the Sea Gulls with a game-high five goals.

Colorado College dropped to 2-4 on the year after falling to defending national champions in back-to-back games. Salisbury improved to 8-0 and extended its winning streak to 53 games overall and 85 consecutive regular-season games.

The Tigers play Kean University on Thursday at Sylvan Lake Park in Sanford, Fla.
