#10 Oregon Pounds Portland State in Rain-Soaked Contest

Eugene, Or. As the skies opened up on the Ducks, their offense poured in goals against first-year team Portland State. From the opening face-off the University of Oregon dominated the rain-soaked contest, starting the game off with a fast break goal in the first eight seconds of the game.

The Ducks offense was firing on all cylinders from the start and put in nine goals in the first quarter, while the vaunted Oregon defense did their part as well, pitching a shutout until late in the second quarter when the Vikings scored on a heavily screened man-up opportunity. That goal proved to be PSU's only of the game and it was all Ducks in the second half. The final score ended at 26-1 in favor of the 10th ranked Oregon Ducks.

Junior attackman Justin Blackmore led all scorers with eight points off of four goals and four assists. Other leading scorers were junior attackman Alex Craighead with six points off five goals and one assist and freshman attackman Robbie McNulty with four goals off of the bench.

Up next for the Ducks is a Spring Break trip that could see the Oregon men shoot up in the polls. The U of O will travel to the San Diego area to face three Top 25 opponents in Loyola Marymount (18,) San Diego State (20,) and Chapman University (3) on consecutive days. The Ducks will open Spring Break play against San Diego State on Thursday, March 26th and go on to play LMU Friday, and Chapman the following day.
