HARRISONBURG, Va., March 18, 2009 -- Ninth-ranked Princeton held off number 16 James Madison and posted a 13-11 victory in women's lacrosse Wednesday evening at the JMU Lacrosse Complex. Princeton improved to 4-1, while JMU's record is now 4-2.

The Tigers' attack was led by senior Christine Casaceli (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow), who scored four goals and assisted on a fifth. Other multiple-goal scorers for Princeton included sophomore Lizzy Drumm (Westbury, N.Y./Friends Academy), senior Kristin Schwab (Baltimore, Md./Friends) and junior Kristin Morrison (Manhasset, N.Y./Friends Academy), each with two goals. Drumm and senior Katie Cox (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) also contributed two assists apiece.

JMU redshirt junior Kim Griffin (Jarrettsville, Md./North Harford) netted a game-high five goals and had an assist. The Dukes' other multiple-goal scorers were senior Jaime Dardine (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) with three and sophomore Mary Kate Lomady (Abington, Pa./Abington) with two. Lomady and freshman Monica Zabel (Ellicott City, Md./Mt./Hebron) also each had two assists, and Dardine had one assist.

After Princeton's first shot of the game hit the post, the Tigers converted their next four attempts to grab a 4-0 advantage 10:11 into the match. Morrison, freshman Cassie Pyle (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen's and St. Agnes), Casaceli and senior Sarah Steele (Longmeadow, Mass./Loomis Chaffee) each scored during the flurry, and Cox assisted on Pyle and Steele's scores, while Drumm had an assist on Casaceli's goal.

JMU responded by scoring the game's next three goals to close the gap to 4-3 with 10:51 left in the half. Griffin started the run with a goal off a pass from Zabel, Lomady scored an unassisted goal and then set up the final goal of the run by passing to Dardine for the score. The teams then traded goals three times before Casaceli scored off a pass from Drumm with 11 seconds to go to give the Tigers an 8-6 halftime lead.

Drumm scored 2:02 into the second period for a 9-6 Princeton advantage, but JMU came roaring back with three scores in just over five minutes of play. Griffin got a pass from Dardine and scored at 25:01, then junior Susan Lines (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor) scored off a pass from Zabel at 24:01. Griffin's pass to a wide-open Dardine resulted in the third goal at 19:47, tying the match at 9-9.

Princeton, however, scored three straight to pull back ahead at 12-9 with 12:39 to go. Schwab converted a free-position attempt at 18:16, Casaceli netted an unassisted goal at 13:55, then Caseli fed Morrison for a goal at 12:39. JMU's Lomady scored at 10:39, and with 4:19 to play Dardine netted a goal to get the Dukes again within one, 12-11. Princeton sophomore goalkeeper Erin Tochihara (Englewood, Colo./Kent Denver) made a stop a free-position attempt by Lomady at 3:06 and Casaceli scored an insurance goal with 12 seconds remaining.

Tochihara made 12 saves for the Tigers. JMU's starting goalkeeper, redshirt freshman goalkeeper Alex Menghetti (Media, Pa./Penncrest), and junior goalkeeper Morgan Kelly (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's) each had a save for the Dukes. Menghetti played 43:23 and Kelly played 16:37.

HARRISONBURG, Va. (3/18/09) – Senior Christine Casaceli matched her personal best with a five-point effort to lead the No. 9-ranked Princeton women's lacrosse team to a 13-11 win over No. 16 James Madison on Wednesday, March 18.

The Tigers got goals from seven different players and the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week sophomore Erin Tochihara made 12 saves, including holding JMU to 0-for-3 shooting from the eight-meter arc. Sophomore Lizzy Drumm had two goals and two assists, while senior Holly McGarvie had one of each. Junior Kristin Morrison and senior Kristin Schwab scored two goals apiece and senior Katie Cox collected two assists.
