Tigers Cruise to Victory over Fontbonne

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. The Colorado College women's lacrosse team scored 11 goals unanswered goals during the first half and cruised to a 13-5 victory over Fontbonne University on Thursday afternoon at CC's Washburn Field.

Bailey Terhune scored a season-high three goals to lead the Tiger attack. CC got goals from nine different players, including two apiece from Alexa Dougherty and Grace Maloney during the first 16:16.

Maloney and Gioia Garden scored 14 seconds apart to give Colorado College a 2-0 lead 4:55 into the game. After Claire Preston added a third goal, Dougherty and Maloney struck within 14 seconds a second time to give the Tigers a 5-0 lead with 17:23 remaining in the first half.

CC's Jess Van Doren stopped all six shots she faced in the first half. Valerie Cranmer had two saves in the final 30 minutes. Claire Kallio stopped 11 of 24 shots for Fontbonne. CC finished with a 33-14 advantage in total shots.

Katie Radeakar scored a pair goals for the Griffins during a span of 1:19 early in the second half to break up the shutout. Emily Spalding struck twice and Caroline Heitkamp added one final tally as Fontbonne scored three goals during the final 4:46.

The Tigers extended their winning streak to four games while improving to 7-1. The Griffins dropped to 1-4.

Colorado College will be back in action on Saturday when the Tigers play host to Fort Lewis College.
