Pfeiffer Falls to Belmont Abbey in Conference Carolinas Play

Belmont, NC – The Pfeiffer University Falcons fell to the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College 14-7 Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas women's lacrosse action. The Falcons fall to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in conference play, while the Crusaders improve to 8-3 overall and 5-3 in the conference.

Pfeiffer tallied 19 shots in the game, while Belmont Abbey had 21. The Falcons were edged out in the battle of the ground balls 21-17, but won 12 of 23 draw controls.

Leading the Falcons were Alex Cook (Commack, NY) and Liz Melesh (Annapolis, MD) who each tallied two goals. Cook also grabbed one ground ball and two draw controls. She also marked one caused turnover. Melesh was 1-1 on free position shots.

Falcon goalkeeper Lindsey Rearigh (Monument, CO) made two saves and had four goals against in just over 14 minutes of play. Rearigh also grabbed three ground balls and had one caused turnover.

The Abbey was led by Megan Darley (Oviedo, FL), Briana Dignan (Nashua, NH), and Shannon Farden (Oswego, NY) who had four points apiece. Abbey goalkeeper Kate Gavin (Pasadena, MD) made four saves allowing seven goals in 60 minutes of play.

Pfeiffer plays host to Queens University of Charlotte on Wednesday at 3:30 PM.
