No. 4 Limestone Quashes Queens to Go 9-0

CHARLOTTE, N.C.-The No. 4 Limestone College women's lacrosse team handed Queens University a 20-11 loss on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Saints maintain sole possession of the top spot in the conference standings with a 7-0 Conference Carolinas record (9-0 overall). Queens stands at 2-8 overall and 2-4 in league play.

Lady Saint Renee Albro (Purcellville, Va.) scored six goals. Katie Ilott (Whitby, Ontario, Canada) scored four goals and tallied an assist. Melissa Howard (Ferndale, Md.) and Lauryn Wise (Pasadena, Md.) each recorded a hat trick and an assist. Kelly Lickert (Penn Yan, N.Y.) scored once and dished out five assists. Kelly Oterson (Islip Terrace, N.Y.), Kelly Lalonde (Henrietta, N.Y.), and Shea Farrell (Blue Point, N.Y.) also scored in the win.

Wise and Oterson recorded five draw controls apiece, and Howard led Limestone with four ground balls. Brigid Milchling (Cockeysville, Md.) and Michaela Reynolds (Columbia, Md.) split the time in goal for Limestone as each goalkeeper played 30 minutes. Milchling posted three saves while Reynolds had four.

Four Queens players accounted for all 11 of the team's goals. Amanda Martin scored four goals for the Royals, while Kelley Duffey had a hat trick. Kelly Wrightson and Alyssa Hughes both scored twice. Goalkeeper Rebecca Markle had 17 saves on the day.

The Lady Saints dominated the game from the start, as Limestone outscored Queens 13-3 in the first period. Limestone had double the shots that the Royals had, 42-21, and picked up 13 ground balls compared to the host's 8. The Lady Saints also maintained possession as the team won 23 of the game's 32 draw controls. Limestone was 4-14 in free-position attempts as the Royals were 1-2.

Limestone hosts Belmont Abbey on March 25 at 4:00 p.m. at Saints Field in Gaffney, S.C.
