Vermont Defeats Le Moyne for Fourth Straight Victory

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Freshman Allison Pfohl (Niskayuna, N.Y.) scored her second straight hat trick to lead the Vermont Catamounts past LeMoyne, 10-8, in women's lacrosse action at Henninger High School on Sunday afternoon.

The Catamounts improve to 6-3 overall and have won four straight games. LeMoyne falls to 4-5 on the season and has its two-game win streak snapped.

The Dolphins jumped out to an early 3-0 lead with 22:27 remaining in the first half. Vermont responded with six straight goals over the next seven minutes to take a 6-3 advantage with 14:11 showing on the clock. LeMoyne closed to within one, scoring the final two goals of the half to trail 6-5 at the break.

UVM opened the second half with four straight goals, including a pair by junior Sara Buxton (Northfield, Ill.) to push ahead by five, 10-5, with 14 minutes remaining in the game.

LeMoyne battled back to score three straight goals and climb back within two, but time ran out on the Dolphins' comeback effort.

Buxton finished the day with two goals, as did teammate Allison Haigh (Northborough, Mass.). Senior Kristen Millar (Whitby, Ontario) added a goal and two assists and six draw controls for Vermont.

Laura Barber (Middlebury, Conn.) and Olivia Hatfield (Alpharetta, Ga.) split time in the UVM net and combined for 11 saves.

Nerissa Barzee led LeMoyne with three goals and Kelly Fucillo made 12 stops for the Dolphins.

Vermont out shot LeMoyne 31-26, marking the second straight game where the Catamounts posted 30 shots.

The Catamounts return to action on Wednesday (March 25) when they host Boston College at 3:00 p.m. at Moulton Winder Field. It will mark UVM's first home game since March 4.
