Argos Storm Past Antelopes

March 22 – The Notre Dame de Namur lacrosse team led from start to finish as they improved to 5-1 on the season with a 23-5 victory over Grand Canyon. The Argos scored 15 second half goals, including eight straight to cruise to victory.

NDNU came out strong, scoring a pair of goals in the first three minutes with Josh Ferriero and Conrad Clevlen finding the net. After another Argonaut goal, GCU got on the board before five straight NDNU goals pushed their lead to 8-1. The Antelopes ended the half strong, scoring the final two goals before halftime.

The second half was all NDNU as the Argos scored ten of the first eleven goals to bust the game open. The Argos held a 37-8 shot advantage for the second half and a 65-13 advantage for the game.

NDNU put 43 shots on net with GCU goalie Andrew Hunter making 20 saves. The Argos also picked up 51 ground balls to just 21 for Grand Canyon and went 4 of 5 on extra man opportunities.

Ferriero, Clevlen and Alex Spang recorded three goals apiece while Derek Kimbrough finished with a game high six points on a goal and six assists. Owen Williams, Justin Shields, Rory Galvin and Chris Fey all scored two goals while six other Argos added a tally of their own. Cory Upshaw finished with a game high seven ground balls and also forced seven turnovers.

Scott Franks led GCU with three points on a goal and two assists while Danny Tussy won 8 of 11 face-offs.

The Argos are back in action on April 3rd when they make a trip to Long Island to take on Merrimack, Dowling and NYIT.
