Bentley Uses Big First Half to Top Franklin Pierce
Rindge, N.H. – Bentley University outscored Franklin Pierce 11-3 in the first half as the Falcons defeated Franklin Pierce 15-10 Tuesday night in Northeast-10 play. Sophomore Leigh Tedeschi (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) scored a career-high six goals and junior Jaclyn Griffin (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) had three goals and four assists. Bentley improves to 2-4 on the season and 1-1 in NE-10 play.
Franklin Pierce scored the first goal of the game 58 seconds in courtesy of Kimberly Jaskina. Bentley then scored four in a row, one by senior Alyssa Ritchie (North Andover, Mass./North Andover), two by Griffin and one by junior Erica de Silva (Dartmouth, Mass./Dartmouth).
Franklin Pierce broke up the run with a goal with 14:46 remaining to make the score 4-2, but from then on, it was all Bentley. The Falcons scored seven goals in a row in a span of less than 12 minutes. Tedeschi had four of the tallies, with de Sliva, Griffin and freshman Olivia Bouchard (Warwick, R.I./Loomis-Chaffee) netting the other three.
Bentley led 11-3 at halftime after Jordan Baillargeon scored to end the streak with 43 seconds left.
Franklin Pierce made it 12-5 with two out of the first three goals of the second half, but Bentley answered with three of the next four to lead by nine, 15-6 after Bouchard's second goal of the game with 8:38 left.
Junior Christina Guglielmo (Fair Haven, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven) made 10 saves to earn the win.
