Stevenson Shuts out Notre Dame (Md.)
BALTIMORE - Visiting Stevenson held College of Notre Dame scoreless en route to a 17-0 women's lacrosse victory Wednesday afternoon. The Mustangs improved to 4-4 overall, while the Gators dropped to 1-6.
Stevenson had 12 student-athlete's make a mark on the scoresheet, led by Lisa Baker's game-high four goals. Baker also had an assist, seven ground balls and six draw controls. Megan Weiss also added three goals and two assists with six draw controls and five ground balls. Samantha Parker, Lauren Zegowitz and Kirstin Gancarz all had three points to help pace Stevenson to victory.
Jenny Schroeder was credited with the win, making three saves in 34:36 minutes of play. Devan Malone replaced Schroeder for 17:29 before Stephanie Lawrence made two stops in the final 7:55 of the contest.
Notre Dame goalie Amanda Arkwright (North Kingston, RI/North Kingston) made 13 saves in the losing effort. The Gators zero goals in a game are the fewest since the team fell at Salisbury 29-1 back on March 4th, 2000.
Notre Dame returns to CSAC action on Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. game at Immaculata (0-5 overall, 0-1 CSAC).

BALTIMORE, Md. - Sophomore Megan Weiss (Odenton/Seton) scored a career-high five points on three goals and two assists to lead the Stevenson University women's lacrosse team to its first-ever shutout victory, 17-0 over the College of Notre Dame (Md.) Wednesday afternoon at Alumnae Field.
The Mustangs (4-4) outshot the Gators 42-8 and held a 32-12 advantage in ground balls while a total of 12 players scored including sophomore Lisa Baker (Westminster/Westminster) who also had five points with four goals.
Weiss scored the first two goals for the Mustangs just 20 seconds apart on assists from Baker and junior Lauren Zegowitz (Gaithersburg/Damascus) at 27:56 and 27:36.
Weiss then assisted Zegowitz on the first of her back-to-back goals at 27:05 as Stevenson scored its first three goals in a span of only 51 seconds to take a 3-0 lead.
Freshmen Kristin Gancarz (Crownsville/Old Mill) and Samatha Parker (New Market/Linganore) each finished with a career-high three points while Parker added her first career goal with 6:20 remaining in the first half.
Freshman Lauren Wynne (Clarksville/River Hill) capped the scoring with her first career goal with 7:55 left in the game.
All three Mustang goalies combined for the shutout, including freshman Jenny Schroeder (Severna Park/Seton Keough) who made three saves in 34-plus minutes to pick up her fourth win of the season.
