Pfeiffer Takes Second Match from Queens

Misenheimer, NC – The Pfeiffer Falcons prevailed over the Royals of Queens University of Charlotte in a Conference Carolinas women's lacrosse game on Wednesday. Pfeiffer took the game by a score of 11-10, which happened to be the exact same score of the first game between these two teams back in the first week of March. Pfeiffer improves to 7-3 overall and 5-2 in conference action, while Queens is 2-9 overall and 2-5 in the conference.

Queens notched two goals early in the game, but Pfeiffer responded with four straight goals. First, Sarah Hebberd (Golden, CO) put Pfeiffer on the board with a shot that was assisted by Tory Binder (Woodstock, MD). Then Krissy Bentolila (Potomac, MD) put the Falcons' woman advantage to good use with an unassisted goal. Pfeiffer's third of the day came off of a shot by Alex Cook (Commack, NY) with Bentolila assisting on the shot. At 13 minutes even, Hebberd put another to the back of the net past Royals net minder Rebecca Markle (Hampstead, MD).

Queens tallied three more goals from Amanda Martin (Geneva, NY), Kristi Kemp (Lake Mary, FL), and Kelley Duffey (New Hope, MN). Pfeiffer chipped in two more unassisted goals from Hebberd and Cook to make the score 6-5 going into the break.

Pfeiffer and Queens each tallied five goals in the second half. Bentolila and Heidi Karaszkiewicz (Glen Burnie, MD) marked a goal apiece for the Falcons with the woman advantage. Alyssa Hughes (Damascus, MD) managed two unassisted woman-down goals for the Royals in the second period.

The Falcons outshot the Royals 30-21 and took a commanding 22-14 lead in the fight for ground balls. Pfeiffer also won 15 of 23 draw controls.

Cook led the Falcons with five points off of four goals and one assist. She also nabbed one ground ball. Bentolila tallied three goals and one assist for four points. She also had one ground ball and one draw control. Hebberd marked a hat trick for three points while grabbing one ground ball and one draw control. Lindsey Rearigh (Monument, CO) played a full 60 minutes for the Falcons in goal making five saves and grabbing four ground balls.

Leading the Royals was Martin with three points off of two goals and one assist. Martin also grabbed three ground balls and one draw control. Hughes tallied three goals and marked one ground ball and one draw control. Markle made 11 saves for the Royals and had three ground balls.

The Falcons return to the field on Saturday against Molloy in Maryland.
