Olsen Scores Eight in Falcon Win over St. Andrews

Misenheimer, NC – The Pfeiffer men's lacrosse team improved to 3-0 in Conference Carolinas play with a 14-9 win over St. Andrews Presbyterian College on Wednesday afternoon. Chad Olsen (Great Mills, MD) put eight into the back of the net en route to the victory that brought the "Laurinheimer Cup" back to Misenheimer for the first time since 2001.

The Falcons outshot the Knights 44-28 and won 36 of 61 ground balls, but St. Andrews took 17 of 26 face offs.

Each team scored three goals in the first period, but Pfeiffer began to pull away in the second outscoring the Knights 4-2. It was really in the third period that the Falcon offense dominated by scoring four goals, while the defense kept the Knights off the board. St. Andrews fought back in the fourth scoring four goals to Pfeiffer's three, but it did not prove to be enough as the score rested at 14-9 in favor of the Falcons at the final whistle.

Leading the Falcons was Olsen with eight goals and one assist for nine points. He also tallied one ground ball. Kevin Anderson (Altamonte Springs, FL) had five points off one goal and four assists along with one ground ball. Derrick Ensor (Finksburg, MD) marked a hat trick and also three ground balls, while Dan Mesler (Penn Yan, NY) had two goals, one assist, and one ground ball. Jimmy Dyches (Abingdon, MD) made eight saves in 60 minutes of play.

Nick Lewnes (Arnold, MD) tallied four points for the Knights off two goals and two assists. Fred Parsons (Glen Burnie, MD) handed out two assists. Patrick Wade (West Windsor, NJ) made 17 saves throughout the game.

The Falcons return to the field on Wednesday against conference rival Queens University of Charlotte.
