Tolson Scores Five as #18 Lynchburg Defeats Greensboro

LYNCHBURG, VA – Senior attack Tyler Tolson (Lutherville, MD/Loyola Blakefield) scored five times and added an assist Wednesday evening as the 18th-ranked Lynchburg College men's lacrosse team defeated Greensboro College 13-8 in non-conference action.

The Hornets jumped out to a 9-3 lead at halftime and netted the first two scores of the third to take a comfortable nine-goal lead. But the Pride wouldn't go away, scoring five of the last seven goals to keep the final score close.

Tolson scored four of his goals in the first half and buried his fifth 4:30 into the third stanza. Senior Michael Mundorf (Cambridge, MD/Mt. Saint Joseph) tallied two goals and three assists, Ethan Farrell (Nantucket, MA/Nantucket) had two goals and an assist while Dylan Hoff (Chester Springs, PA/Downingtown East) had two scores as well.

Nick Patrone paced Greensboro (6-3) with four scores and Jose Rodriguez had two tallies. Jordan Drumheller had three assists and also scored. Lynchburg out-shot the Pride 36-21 and corralled 13 of the game's 24 face-offs.

The Hornets (5-3) host Randolph College Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in more non-conference play.

Tyler Tolson potted a game-high five goals and had one helper for Lynchburg (5-3).

The game was tied at 2-2 after a tally by Patrone with 2:24 left in the first period. For the second straight game against a strong ODAC opponent, however, GC gave up a big run. The Hornets scored the next six goals to take a 9-3 lead at halftime

For the second quarter, The Pride was outscored 6-1, equaling the final margin in the contest. LC had an edge in shots (36-21) but The Pride led in ground balls (48-35).

Mike Foderaro (Sailisbury, MD/Parkside) had nine saves and allowed 12 goals. Alex Haskins (Ballston Spa, NY/Herkimer C.C.) played the final period, gave up one goal and stopped two LC shots. The Pride outscored the home team 3-1 in the final period.

Jose Rodriguez score two times for The Pride. GC hosts Christopher Newport on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
