Greensboro Tops Methodist, Wins Third Straight

GREENSBORO, N.C.-Melissa Gallaher (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) scored four goals and added one assist as the Greensboro College women's lacrosse team won its third straight match, 14-9, over Methodist University at Pride Field on Thursday. Chelsea Farley (Sykesville, MD/Centennial) (four goals), Layne Woodard (three goals, assist) and Ashley Nolen (Lothian, MD/Southern) (two goals) also tallied multiple goals for The Pride. GC improved to 4-5 overall, 2-1 in USA South action.

Methodist University (2-6, 1-1) was led offensively by Jasmine Stephen's four goals. Teammates Amber Jurkovac and Andrea DiStefano netted two goals apiece for the Monarchs.

Greensboro built a 7-2 lead by the half, taking advantage of three goals off the stick of Farley. After trailing by a 2-1 margin at the 21:55 mark of the game, GC netted seven unanswered goals beginning with a shot by Woodard.

Nolen opened second half scoring on a pass from Christie Hebert (Alexandria, VA/West Potomac), who finished with two points in the contest, just 1:29 into the frame. After the two teams traded a pair of goals, which gave GC a 10-5 edge, the combination of Woodard, Farley and Gallaher put the game back to an eight goal advantage with 4:31 remaining.

The Pride finished with a 36-21 advantage in shots. Stacey Pulskamp (Cincinnati, OH/Turpin) grabbed the victory in goal, and stopped eight shots. For Methodist, Lindsey Gosgray halted 15 Greensboro College shots.

GC hosts Shenandoah on Sunday for senior day. Game time is 3:30 p.m. at Pride Field.
