Blue Jays Stop Devils in Second Half for 12-7 Win
(Elizabethtown, Pa.) - The 20th-ranked Dickinson College women's lacrosse team suffered a 12-7 loss on the road at Elizabethtown on Thursday afternoon.
The Red Devils held a 7-5 advantage at halftime but were held scoreless in the second half, recording just seven shots after the break.
The Blue Jays struck first, scoring just 17 seconds into the game before the Devils went on a 5-0 run to take a 5-1 lead at the 19:44 mark. Junior Lexie Kob (Collegeville, Pa./Springford) tallied three goals during the run.
The Blue Jays scored three straight to cut the deficit to 5-4 with just over nine minutes remaining in the half.
The Devils tacked on two more goals from Abby Larson (Easton, Md./Gunston Day) and Alysa Crellin (Little Compton, R.I./Portsmouth Abbey School), Elizabethtown added a goal at the 1:19 mark to close out the half.
After the break, the Blue Jays maintained possession, outscoring the Devils 7-0 over the final 30 minutes.
Katie Foley and Katie Caprinolo each scored four goals to lead Elizabethtown (7-2). Jenn Hawkins made 13 saves in goal.
Kob led the Devils with three goals while Larson finished with a goal and an assist. Sunnie Ko (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) controlled five draws, adding a goal as well.
Sophomore Jessie Clark (Devon, Pa./Conestoga) made 12 saves and controlled three ground balls for the Red Devils.
They return to Centennial Conference action on Saturday, traveling to Haverford for a 1:00 start.
