Ritchie, Griffin, Canepa Lead Bentley by Saint Michael's

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior Alyssa Ritchie (North Andover, Mass./North Andover), junior Jaclyn Griffin (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) and freshman Lauren Canepa (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) each scored four goals to lead Bentley University to a 21-7 win over Saint Michael's on a rainy Thursday night in Northeast-10 women's lacrosse action. Bentley has won two straight and improves to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in the NE-10.

With a steady rain falling throughout the first half, Saint Michael's stayed with Bentley for the first 15 minutes of the half. After Griffin scored the first goal of the game, the team's traded the next seven goals back-and-forth. Amanda Pelley scored for Saint Michael's to make the score 4-4 with 15:05 gone.

After Pelley's goal though, Bentley scored 15 unanswered, with 12 of those coming in the first half. Ritchie scored the first of those goals unassisted, and she added two more during the run.

Canepa scored three of her goals during the run, Griffin and junior Erica de Silva (Dartmouth, Mass./Dartmouth) added three and two goals respectively, and sophomore Leigh Tedeschi (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) and senior Kim Morris (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) also got in on the act with one apiece.

Bentley was able to dominate the possession by winning 21 of 30 draw controls, and they took advantage of their free-position chances, going 4-8.

Tedeschi had a hat trick, and Morris and de Silva each had two goals. Ritchie had five assists for nine points, which is a season-high for any Bentley player this season.

Junior goalie Christina Guglielmo (Fair Haven, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven) made 10 saves for her third win of the season.

Bentley will next host No. 9 Dowling in a non-conference affair on Sunday at noon.
