Cabrini Doubles Up Neumann to Win Fifth Straight
RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini women's lacrosse team collected its fifth straight win, toppling Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) foe Neumann College, 20-10, Tuesday at Edith Robb Dixon Field. The Cavaliers' 13th-year head coach Jackie Neary earns her 160th career victory with the win.
Junior attack Erin Nollen (West Chester, Pa./Henderson), junior attack Amanda Alexandrowicz (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) and sophomore Jaime O'Hanlon (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) combined to post 22 points and score 17 goals in the victory against the Knights.
Nollen totaled 10 points, depositing a season-high eight goals and adding two assists. Alexandrowicz notched a season-high seven points on five goals and two assist. O'Hanlon contributed five points, pairing four scores with one helper.
Freshman attack Jacqueline McDermott (Secane, Pa./Ridley) recorded four points on two goals and two assists. Junior attack Danielle Rothermel (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's) tallied one goal and sophomore attack Kristen Vernon (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) chipped in with one assist.
Alexandrowicz and senior defender Chrissy Regan (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's) each tallied a team-best four groundballs. Alexandrowicz scooped four draw controls.
Junior goalkeeper Kate Schmid (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's) made her seventh start of the season, claiming 12 saves in the win. Schmid posted 11 stops in the second half.
Behind two goals each from Nollen and O'Hanlon, Cabrini sprinted to a 6-0 advantage just six minutes into the contest. The Cavaliers' cushion ballooned to 15-2 with just 54 seconds remaining in the first half.
Cabrini owned a 15-3 lead at the intermission. Nollen led the Blue & White in the opening 30 minutes, scoring five of her eight goals. The Cavaliers recorded 35 shots in the first half versus just four from the Knights.
Neumann scored four of the second half's first five goals, pulling to within nine goals, 16-7, with 14:54 remaining. After Cabrini reasserted a 10-goal lead at 17-7, junior Dominique Thompson's second goal of the game trimmed the Knights' deficit back to nine scores.
However, Neumann would come no closer, as the Cavaliers closed the game on a 3-2 run, sparked by two goals from Nollen.
The Knights had difficulty solving the Cabrini pressure, converting just 16-of-30 clear opportunities. The Cavaliers also owned a 23-9 draw control advantage.
Thompson and junior Colleen Finnegan each tallied four points for the visitors. Finnegan totaled four goals, while Thompson added two assists to her two scores.
Senior midfielder Gabby D'Ambrosio entered Tuesday's game with 37 points on 34 goals and three assists. The Cavaliers' defense limited D'Ambrosio to just two points on one goal and one assist.
Cabrini (5-2, 4-0) returns to the road for a non-conference tilt with The College of New Jersey Thursday, April 2. The opening draw is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
