#4 Merrimack Uses Strong Q2 to Defeat Saint Michael's

COLCHESTER, VT – The fourth-ranked Merrimack men's lacrosse team scored six straight goals in the second period to defeat Saint Michael's 11-7 Tuesday afternoon.

Greg Rogowski and Michael Balbuena led the way scoring three goals each. Rogowski, who has won Northeast-10 Player of the Week honors in two straight weeks, totaled six points, giving him a conference-best 37 points in six games.

Merrimack trailed 2-0 after the first quarter, but scored six times, four on the man advantage, in a 9:39 span in the second to take a 6-2 lead at halftime. They scored three of the four fourth-quarter goals to put the game away and improve to a perfect 6-0 (2-0 NE-10) on the season.

Bryan MacPhie added two goals and an assist, while Mark Webber, Jo Pisano, and Brad McAdam each tallied a goal. Cory Spinale stopped 11 shots in net for the win. Merrimack finished 4-for-8 on the man advantage and killed off four of their five penalties.

The Warriors (6-0, 2-0 NE-10) take on Notre Dame de Namur (Belmont, CA) in a non-conference game Friday at 7:00 p.m. at St. Anthony's High School in Melville, New York.
