13th-Ranked Bowdoin Downs Springfield
EXETER, N.H. - The 13th-ranked Bowdoin College men's lacrosse team scored five times in the second quarter on their way to an eventual 11-6 win over Springfield College in a game played in Exeter, N.H. on Wednesday evening. The Polar Bears have won five consecutive games and improve to 7-1 this season. The Pride fall to 3-4 overall.
Tied at one apiece after the opening period, Bowdoin scored five times in the second quarter and didn't look back. Cullen Winkler led the Polar Bears with three goals while Owen Smith had two goals and an assist. Russ Halliday and Harry Ashforth each had a goal and an assist for the evening. Rob Halliday, Ben Chadwick, Justin Starr and Ben York accounted for the other Polar Bear tallies.
Jake McCampbell made five saves in the first half for Bowdoin, allowing two goals. Robert Burkhardt stopped two shots in the second half. A complete box score will be posted on the Bowdoin website on Thursday.
The Polar Bears will host seventh-ranked Middlebury on Saturday afternoon. Gametime is set for 1:00 p.m.
